I was ordained by the Capital Area of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at First Christian Church in Hagerstown, MD on March 19, 2011. Through a strong partnership between the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ I am able to serve in a UCC congregation. I maintain dual ministerial standing in the denominations.

I am a bi-vocational pastor which means I have another full-time job in addition to the church. My other vocation is as a Family Service Specialist with Shenandoah County Department of Social Services focusing on CPS-Ongoing (Prevention) and Foster Care cases. There are plenty of bi-vocational pastors who have come before me: Jesus’ disciples were fishermen, and The Apostle Paul was a tent-maker. It is a situation which is becoming more common in our modern day. There have been many benefits to this model for ministry. I love how it is outward-focused and allows me to live out faith in the “real” world.

I like folk music, non-fiction books, and brussel sprouts. I’m kind of a geek: I’m great at math, I studied computer science in college, and I have solved a rubix cube (though I’m pretty rusty these days). I prefer the woods to the beach. I know Jesus loves me, but there are days I have my doubts. I believe God’s love is for everyone and that includes you and me.
